Auto Insurance Secret 14

An explanation of the different insurance coverages may help you decide if you can drop some unneeded coverage and thus save you money.

Uninsured/underinsured motorist protection covers injuries to the occupants of your car — and property damage in some states — if the other driver has no insurance or too little.

Collision insurance pays for damage to your vehicle in an accident. If your car is totaled, you’ll get what the insurer considers the pre-crash market value of your car, minus your deductible. To get a general idea of what that may be, check the Kelley Blue Book private-party price or visit the Web site of the National Automobile Dealers Association. You can pay extra for replacement-cost coverage for newer cars.

Comprehensive insurance covers theft of your vehicle and noncollision damage to your car, as well as animal collisions. You may be eligible for lower rates if your vehicle has anti-theft and tracking devices.

Medical or personal-injury protection provides coverage for you and your passengers, regardless of fault.

Low Cost Auto Insurance Guru Tip:You may not need this insurance if you and your family members are already covered by a separate family health policy.

Twelve states have no-fault insurance, which generally covers the insured person’s injuries and property damage no matter who is at fault.

Consider gap insurance if you owe more on your car than it’s worth.

Auto Insurance Secret 4

If your car is “totaled” after an accident, did you know how your insurance company determines your car’s present value? The answer may surprise you. Auto-insurance companies don’t use the standard Kelley Blue Book or National Association of Automobile Dealers value. Instead, each company has its own proprietary list of car values, and most have specialized software for valuing cars in each region. They take into consideration the car’s mileage and pre-accident condition.

The insurance company may also ask local dealers what they’d charge for a similar replacement car. However, the insurer will consider quotes from suburban towns as reasonable estimates, even if you live in the city. You might have to drive several hours to reach the cheapest dealer, just to save the insurance company money. And they might be quoted a better deal than you could get if you walked onto the lot.

Low Cost Auto Insurance Guru Tip: If you disagree with your insurance company’s value determination, don’t despair, there are several things you can still to prove a higher value

  • Next time, get gap insurance. It will pay for the difference between what an insurer will cover and what you owe, which can be several thousand dollars.
  • If you have maintenance records that show you’ve had the oil changed every 3,000 miles and you’ve had the car checked routinely by a mechanic, present copies to the insurance company to show the car was in good condition. If you’ve been paying premiums on any special parts or upgrades, make sure those are included in the insurance company’s evaluation.
  • Get price quotes on replacement cars from three dealers within a reasonable driving distance and submit these to your insurance company. Ask the insurance company for a list of dealers within a specific distance who can sell you an equivalent car for the value the company is claiming.
  • If you still aren’t satisfied, you can step up the process and go to mediation or arbitration. Mediation involves presenting your case to a neutral party for help in reaching a compromise; arbitration is a binding decision. You can also, of course, take the issue to court.

Stay tuned for Part 5, next!

Gap Insurance - Should You get It?

Posted by: Low Cost Auto Insurance Guru   in Advice, Automotive, Autos, Insurance, Other - Cars & Transportation

Gap insurance is an additional insurance policy that is usually tacked on to your monthly lease payment or (finance payment if you are financing your car). Usually you don’t even know you have it unless you look at the dreaded fine print in your finance contract, and if its there, its probably already too late to change or replace it with another Gap Insurance policy of your choice.

What Is Gap Insurance?

Gap Insurance will insure you for the difference between what one would owe on a vehicle and what an insurance company says it’s worth. This insurance is a must for someone who is considering purchasing a new vehicle since a new vehicle depreciates right after it is driven off the dealer’s lot. Depending on the policy, Gap insurance usually covers accidents and thefts, but not all policies are the same so it’s a good idea to evaluate the coverages being offered before you sign a lease or finance agreement.

Is Gap insurance required?

No. Most lending companies who finance cars do require full coverage insurance but not Gap insurance, so the owner would have to pay the depreciation difference if they had a total loss of their vehicle and chose not to add Gap insurance to their policy.

Advice from the Low Cost Auto Insurance Guru

Before you sign a lease or finance agreement on your new or used car, please make sure that Gap Insurance IS NOT added to your contract with the finance company. Most dealerships will offer Gap insurance but usually at a extremely high premium. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU BUY THE DEALER’S GAP INSURANCE.

In fact before even deciding to purchase a new vehicle, check with your current insurance provider about Gap insurance. It may already be built into the premium. If it is not, Gap insurance can usually be purchased for a reasonable additional cost. But, some auto insurers do not offer Gap insurance at all. In this case, try to first find a Gap insurance policy from another insurer before buying it from the dealer. Always AVOID dealer’s Gap coverage as it is almost always more expensive.

Gap Insurance Tips for New Cars

Posted by: Low Cost Auto Insurance Guru   in Insurance

Christy Myers asked:

The Guaranteed Auto Prection (GAP) is a useful insurance that protects you from your new car’s loan. The gap insurance is simply a difference between what you repay value and your book value of new car so that you are able to disburse your deductibles if incase of any damage of your car.

Incase car gets damaged for some reasons like fire, flood, accident or theft, the insurance company place less value than its real value and the real value is always less as compare to the actual value repay on your loan.

The Guaranteed Auto Perfection (GAP) is get through deductible less financial deficit knows as GAP. The GAP insurance covers differences of what your car is book value and what you still repay on it. In many cases, the difference between what you repay and what your vehicle is worth is thousands of dollars.

If the GAP insurance obtained by insurance company under the individual auto policy then must have to deal with state insurance regulation agency for filling the premium. The premium is paid as complete auto insurance coverage.

In many instances this insurance will also pay the deductible on the primary insurance policy. The GAP policy offered at auto dealership at comparatively low cost add on that can be put into the car loan which provides coverage for the duration of the loan.

The car owners presume if their car is completely demolished they will get the complete amount. But it is not true, thats why the car insurance company select the GAP insurance to get the physical damage.

Do women really want equal oppurtunities?

Posted by: Low Cost Auto Insurance Guru   in Law & Ethics

auto insurance requirements
rob s asked:

Do women want the right to vote? Would women think twice about voting for a candidate that believes women should be drafted?

How do women feel about the gap in physical requirements each military service has between men and women? They both are required to do the same job, should there be a gap?

Should women be allowed in the military based on obvious physical limitations or only allowed to seek employment in a civilian supported role?

Should women only receive maternity leave if an employer allows it?

Should women pay the same monthly for insurance (auto or life)

Should women be expected to pay and/or open the door for me on the first date?

Is it unreasonable for an officer to arrive at a domestic dispute and find the woman at fault?

Does a woman want to be treated like a woman but paid like a man?

Why is it ok for a woman to be seductive when she wants something and not ok when she is just proud of her body?

Just some questions…All men ARE created equal
