You can have as many checking accounts as you like at as many different banks as you like.

Just remember, keeping track of more than two or three is a pain in the butt.

As long as you keep money in them, and keep track of them, and manage them.

It is a good way to lose track of your money and get in trouble with debt though.

It’s just fine…on average most american’s have 8 accounts (mortgage, savings, money markets, checkings, ect) at 3 different banks.

An indirect answer to your question would be, rather than having so many checking accounts, which I assume you want for different categories? why not just have one for necessities, and one for everything else….Try 50/30/20..50% of your income goes for necessities; if you wonder what they are, imagine this; if you lost your job tomorrow, what would you NOT be spending money on? then the 30% is for anything you want to buy; fun stuff, etc..the 20% would be for saving and investing..I’ve been doing this now for over a year and it’s very liberating;; you never feel deprived..yet you know you are being responsible with your money…you can always adjust it if you want; some people like 30% for save/invest and 20% for fun, its up to you…I would suggest having just one checking account, and 2 savings accounts; then when you want, just transfer the money from savings to checking, unless there are fees for doing that; if so, meet with someone at your bank and get their opinion on the best thing to do..but having so many checking accounts will be a big hassle!!

Yes, you can have 2 checking accounts at different banks for safety reasons. If you have many you’ll get confused and you can’t keep track with them because they are too many. Focus on 2 banks for you’ll be helped
