We have been held hostage by the N.A. Auto Industry for far too long. They have been overcharging us for poor quality cars, trucks and SUV that should have been sold for much less. A wise man once told me that had the cost of cars followed the cost of computers that it would be cheaper to buy a new car than to pay a speeding ticket. Well the prices of cars has not decreased but rather increased. It is so nice to finally have an entrepreneur who actually passes the savings on to the consumer instead of padding his own pockets like these owners and chief executives who take millions of dollars annually in salaries, bonuses, and travel allowances. Tata Motors from India has come out with a $2,500 car and a deluxe model for $3,000. Word is that they will be available in North America soon. Congratulations Ratan Tata. I can’t wait til I can buy one. The North American Auto Companies could have done the same thing but chose to pay exhorbitant salaries to their executives and workers. When the average auto worker gets paid more than a teacher, fireman, police officer, social worker, councillor, or manager I think we as a society have a problem. What you see happening to the auto industry today is that problem coming to a head and popping like a zit. I think ever student should ask for a Tata Nano for highschool graduation.
Ratan Tata is over 6′ tall which is not only tall for an Indian male but tall for any nationality. He fits in it. At 6’4″ I would put in Recaro racing seats so that I would have more leg room and more head room … problem solved. What girl wouldn’t want to be picked up in a sharp new Tata Nano with tinted windows, extra wide tires, and Recaro leather racing seats by a boyfriend man enough to drive one. I’ll take one in Patriot blue.
Actually, a smart girl would realize that the guy now has more money to spend on her since he saved so much on the car and on gas and on his insurance premiums.
Ryder, just think of all the aftermarket customization people could do. It sounds like the SMART car which sells up her for like $18,000 so for 1/6 the price wow what a deal for kids, frugal people, or just folks who want some fun in daily grocery getter and wouldn’t mind it getting scratched in the parking lot..

I switched insurance companies for my homeowners insurance. The new insurance guy contacted my 2nd mortgage company and my original bank of the change- This was in August 2007- My bank started charging me for forced insurance (an extra 130. a month) I have a variable rate loan and thought the difference was cuz of that. I do not recall getting any letters from my bank or the forced morgage co. about the charges. I got a letter explaining my ‘escrow’ charges and called my bank- after a 2 week run around I went in and found out I had insurance forced for a year!
-I contacted my insurance guy and he called the lady at my bank- she DID get the paperwork about the change of insurance BUT because I have a new last name and she didn’t check loan number or address she just filed it away and still charged me for the insurance!!!
-So now I hear I have a refund of 1300. coming! woot! ….THEN…
-This morning I call bank to find out if they mailed me a check or deposited the refund in my savings account. They applied the money to my loan principal!! I was outraged.
-I was told that it was’ policy’ for them to normally apply forced insurance refunds to loan principal.
-This is not a normal situation. They had my insurance info on file for over a year.
-I want that cash refunded to me. I was never given an option.
Should I sue my bank? What can I do to get my money back?
Please Help. I am struggling financially and could really use
that money to pay my property taxes and get clothes for kids.
I live in Ohio. I have auto withdrawl from my savings account to pay my mortgage. My child support goes into the saving account and helps pay the mortgage. I feel that money was for my kids-

Geico Auto insurance says in their radio advertisement that “you can save $500 by switching to Geico” (we’ll even assume that the $500 figure is accurate – but they don’t state where the $500 figure comes from). I think this ad is clearly deceptive for several reasons.

First of all, it says you “can save” money, not that you “will save” money, but it gives the opposite impression.

Next, it implies that Geico insurance is (on average) $500 cheaper than insurance from other companies which is blatently false.

And finally, and most importantly, it bases the $500 savings on people that “switch to Geico” only. It’s not a comparison of all Geico rates with the rates from other companies. So, naturally, if you switched to Geico (and most people switch companies to save money), their rates will appear to be less than the company they switched “from”.

OK so this is the story. sad but true.

About a year and a half ago my girlfriend (at the time) named Amber, and I purchased a 2005 dodge stratus from a car dealership. The car was purchased through an auto loan. On this loan I am the primary signer, and Amber is the co-signer.

6 months later give or take, Amber and I decided to go our separate ways, ie breakup. At this time we were both living in Connecticut. Amber wanted the car, and since I didn’t want two cars, we agreed that she would take the dodge stratus back to her hometown in New York. As part of this verbal agreement Amber was going to remove the loan from my name, and get the car registered and insured in New York.

Almost a year later now. Amber has not been able to remove my name from the auto loan, and the car still remains registered and insured under my name. Payments have been repeatably late (albeit still up to date). Although I was growing increasingly more and more frustrated about this situation, I was repeatedly made the promise that soon the car would be removed from my name.

The tipping point in this situation came two weeks ago. I received an email saying that the car’s insurance had been canceled due to non-payment. So now the car is in a lapse of insurance. I tried to renew the insurance only to find out that Amber has a suspended license and they couldn’t! To top off everything the very next day I found out that $400 dollars in back property taxes were due on the Dodge stratus and was forced to pay it in order to renew my own car registration.

Needless to say, I became very frustrated with this seemingly bad situation in which I was losing three things. My credit was being hurt, I was paying out of pocket for taxes that Amber would not pay, and also fines from the DMV for being in lapse of insurance, and also possibly hurting my own insurance rating for being in lapse of insurance thus making it possibly more difficult for my car to be insured.

I called Amber and said, “this is it, you have had more than enough time to remedy this situation you have a week to find another signer for the loan and get this car out from under me.”

Still nothing has happened, and the car is in her hometown, uninsured in my name and registered in connecticut. I have told her that I will come get the car and forget about the $600 hundred dollars out of pocket for taxes and fines that she has caused but she says that she refuses to give me the keys. If I make the 20 hour round trip to get the car I want to make damn sure that I will return with it.

Basically my question is how do i proceed to legally obtain the keys from Amber and take the car back to Connecticut where it seemingly belongs. Who do I need to contact to get help?! Also, am i being unreasonable or is this girl being ridiculous?!
